We watch about ten eagle nests in and around Red Wing, and most still are actively occupied. With this, we hope the eggs are incubating well and could hatch soon, even after the cold temperatures along with wind and rain. Turkey Vultures have returned, so we have to look twice when we see a dark bird soaring over a bluff to see if it is an eagle or not. The Great Blue Heron rookery at Bay Point Park is really active, with herons gathering sticks to enhance their nests. It seems some herons are laying eggs. We will lose sight of the nests in the next few weeks as the trees leaf out.
