Over two dozen eagles at Colvill Park

In the morning today we saw at least 24 eagles in and around Colvill Park. At one point, at least 10 eagles were circling low over the river. Five pelicans remain in the bay at Colvill Park. One appeared to have died and was floating in the bay. Eagles will scavenge dead fowl, so we were concerned. Cara retrieved the body to keep eagles from getting whatever killed the pelican. We’re thinking it could be lead poisoning or avian influenza. We will bring the body to be tested. The remaining five pelicans could be affected by the same issue, and may need to be rescued, if possible. We have not seen them fly, so it may be possible.
