About 20 eagles continue at Colvill Park

There were about 20 eagles in and around Colvill Park this morning, sitting in a tree in the parking lot, in trees near the bay, and along the river channel. When we visited again just before sunset, 10-12 eagles were flying over the river looking for fish, acrobatically swooping and diving.

A small group of pelicans remain in the bay, and we are concerned they may not be able to migrate. Extremely cold weather is coming this weekend, which will freeze up more river backwaters. The bay at Colvill Park should remain open as long as the Xcel Energy plant is running, releasing warm water into the bay.
