Temperatures in the 20s made things frosty in Red Wing and more birds continue migration south. We hear Tundra Swans flying high overhead at night and a large group of American White Pelicans landed in Colvill Park bay at night. We caught up with them early the next morning. Eagle activity is increasing and we see some new immature eagles in the area. We have seen local eagle pairs working in their nests and sitting together, so they are thinking about raising another family. We visited Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory in Duluth to see hundreds of raptors flying by the lake, including a number of Golden Eagles. Also, we stopped at Crex Meadows in Wisconsin to see thousands of Sandhill Cranes.
This week has been active for aurora (northern lights), and we got out to see the spectacular display on Tuesday.
