The river had most of the surface covered in ice sheets this morning, and eagles were flying through steam fog in the bay at Colvill Park. A few eagles were seen at Bay Point Park fish in some open water. In the afternoon, we saw a female Long-tailed Duck at Levee Park, thanks to a tip from a friend. Long-tailed Ducks typically stay on the coasts but we’ve seen one here the past few winters, mingling with flocks of Common Goldeneyes.
