We drove down the river to Winona and checked for eagles along the way. Reads Landing had a few dozen eagles and Lock and Dam #5 had over a hundred eagles flying and standing on the ice. A few eagles remain at Colvill Park and Bay Point Park in Red Wing. The river channel is still ice-covered through Red Wing. Colvill Park bay is open. The nuclear plant is scheduled to restart one unit by the end of the month, which should release warm water and melt some river ice.
