Vultures and migrating ducks return, some migrating eagles remain

This week we saw the first vultures return and migrating ducks landed in Mud Lake, across from downtown Red Wing. Ring-necked Ducks, Canvasbacks, Hooded Mergansers, and Redheads are feeding there.

A number of migrating Bald Eagles remain in and around Red Wing, along with the resident pairs. At least one aerie continues to show egg incubation, with both parents taking turns on the nest.

Gusty northwest winds gave eagles, hawks, and falcons lift over He Mni Can/Barn Bluff.
