This morning, we counted over 40 Bald Eagles of varying ages at Colvill Park. They were perched in the trees by the bay and the river channel. Many of the eagles were immature, between first year and fourth year. Ice forming on other bodies of water, including Lake Pepin probably brought these visiting eagles to Red Wing. Joining eagles were about 40 American White Pelicans, a few hundred Common Mergansers, and dozens of gulls. All were catching fish in the bay and the channel.
